Lesson One: Introduction

Rev. Dr. Brad Long, Rev. Susan Finck, Rev. Chris Walker

Introducing the Listening Evangelism course, our three teachers, and our emphasis on the Holy Spirit as the director of evangelism and our approach, which is centered in the sovereignty of God and how he works with those he is drawing into faith and with us as he calls and equips us to do our part.

Lesson Two: From the Heart of God

Rev. Dr. Brad Long, Rev. Susan Finck, Rev. Chris Walker

Preparing to learn how to do listening evangelism by looking at our motives for sharing the gospel. Having the right motives will give us a sound beginning place.

Lesson Three: Calling : The What and Where

Rev Dr. Brad Long, Rev. Susan Finck, Rev. Chris Walker

Lesson 3 is the first of three lessons on how God calls us to participate in evangelism. We’re spending time on this topic so we can learn how to discover our particular role in sharing the gospel. We’ll look at the nature of a call, how we can prepare for God to call us, and the nature of our calling — in particular what God calls us to do and where He calls us to serve.

Lesson Four - Circles of Influence

Rev. Dr. Brad Long, Rev. Susan Finck, Rev. Chris Walker

We’ll learn more about the where of our calling and how to discern whom God might like to reach through us.

Lesson Five: Calling - The How

Rev. Dr. Brad Long, Rev. Susan Finck, Rev. Chris Walker

In the previous section, we explained and illustrated that our calling consists of the content of the call (the what) as well as the sphere of activity (the where) we are called to work and where God will empower us to fulfill the work. In Lesson 5 we will discover how Jesus’ equips us to carry out our calling.

Lesson Six:The Holy Spirit Drawing People to Faith

Rev. Dr. Brad Long, Rev. Susan Finck, Rev. Chris Walker

In this lesson we will focus on how the Father draws people by the Holy Spirit to bring a person to faith. Jesus said, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:44)

What we want to do is look at the process of God drawing a person by the Holy Spirit to Jesus Christ. We can call this the “pre-work” of the Holy Spirit, in other words, what happens prior to the profession of faith. We are going to look at the journey to conversion, the process of coming to faith.

Lesson Seven:The Philip Model of Cooperating with the Holy Spirit

Rev. Dr. Brad Long, Rev. Susan Finck, Rev. Chris Walker

To clear up misunderstandings about the sovereignty of God and its role in evangelism; to help people overcome fears about presenting the gospel so they feel free to present it.

Lesson Eight: Evangelism as Story Telling

Rev. Dr. Brad Long, Rev. Susan Finck, Rev. Chris Walker

To help people learn how to present the gospel so they can share it calmly and confidently whenever the Holy Spirit asks them to.

Lesson Nine: Leading People to Salvation

Rev. Dr. Brad Long, Rev. Susan Finck, Rev. Chris Walker

In this lesson, we will discuss the steps a person must take to be born again so we know what to expect if the Holy Spirit wants to us to cooperate with him in bringing someone into the kingdom of God.

Lesson Ten:Prayer as the First Step to Engagement

Rev. Dr. Brad Long, Rev. Susan Finck, Rev. Chris Walker

To conclude this series on listening evangelism with a call to prayer and teaching on two ways to pray for the salvation of others.
